Samantha, I saw your article in Adoptive Families. Well written about a great topic. A fellow AF writer, I am a caucasian parent of an adopted Asian child. Now our family has all these unexpected labels…blended, multicultural…I wouldn’t trade it, of course, but it’s nice to hear how you tactfully respond. You have three adorable sons.

Just read your article and had to send you a note of gratitude! We struggle with the same issue all of the time (me as the stay at home mom, more often). Our adopted 2 year old daughter is half African American but looks like a well tanned Caucasian- especially with her two Caucasian parents! I too, have heard so many times the comments about sunscreen or her tan, and I struggle with blowing it off or honestly sharing our private information.

It was such a weight off my shoulders to read your article and know that I am not alone in feeling this way, and struggling with knowing what is right for my daughter.
