We had occasion recently to be in the company of our adoption worker, Lisa, who was, of course, instrumental in bringing Oscar and Edgar home to us.
As we sat quietly chatting, the boys engaged in an art project, Oscar suddenly looked up, turned to Lisa and uttered a simple but incredibly profound sentiment: “Thank you for bringing us all together.”
And it was at that moment that I knew Oscar “got it”–the joy of adoption, the miracle of us all finding each other, the power of a simple (and a not-so-simple) thank-you as an expression of gratitude.
Thank you, Lisa . . . for everything you have done and are doing. You are our “superhero.”
