We need to start by saying that Oscar seldom hesitates to express his affection–to his mother, to his father, to his family and friends. His hugs and kisses are frequent and endearing. But hugs and kisses for his brother? Well, that’s a different story.
Which is why I present to you yesterday’s oh-so-brief moment:
We were out and about running errands. When we arrived at our destination, I parked the car and proceeded to get out. Oscar unstrapped himself and walked over to Edgar’s side of the car. As I was unstrapping Edgar from his carseat, Oscar kissed Edgar on the cheek!
Edgar: “Mommy, Oscar just kissed me.”
Me: “I know. That’s so nice.”
Oscar: “I did NOT kiss Edgar.” (He did, once again, for the record.)
Edgar: “Mommy, Oscar loves me!”
Me: “Of course he does.”
Oscar: “NO, I DON’T!”
Edgar: “Yes, you do!”
LATE-BREAKING NEWS: This morning Oscar said, “Edgar, you are a handsome young man!”
So, there’s no denying, and it’s official: Oscar loves his brother! Send out an alarm and raise the roof! Just don’t tell Oscar that you know!
